6tri campus games,

Day 1, Monday: The men’s football kicked off with a match between the two away teams, UK and China. After little more than ten minutes UK were 2-0 up and looked like clear favourites to win. As the half time whistle neared China pulled a first goal back to make it 2-1. The pace of the game slowed in the second half as the teams tired, but with a second goal from China, it looked as if they would be going home with a point apiece. With barely a minute to go the UK team got a third goal and came away with the win.

The opening ceremony gets off to a thunderous start! The athletes lined up to each of the three countries’ national anthems and declared “friendship through sport” as one. International entertainment was provided by a Malaysian dance and a performance by a troupe of Chinese drummers. Five beats of the drum from Christine Ennew, UNMC provost, marked the official opening of the 5th University of Nottingham Tri Campus Games.
